2008 Summer Week 1

Week 1: 57 White Earth students (grades 5th-8th) spent the week on the UMN-Twin Cities campus. The 5th and 6th grade students completed the Starbase program learning concepts about aviation and flight. Students designed and tested gliders and rockets.

The 7th and 8th grade students worked with RFTS instructors and Dr. James Flaten from the MN Sapce Consortium to build and test hovercraft (the iMovie below was created by one of the students) and chemical rockets (this project was completed in week3). Students also participated in a variety of campus tours, college readiness seminars, and a tour and presentations from engineers at the Lockheed-Martin facility in Eagan, MN
